Quad pilot split-s over an opposing ComAir in Las Vegas

Tactical view

In a social media group that discusses the legality of UAS flying, an amazing – and disturbing – video of a drone pilot closing range with a commercial airliner on approach to McCarren International airport was distributed. The legality, authenticity and the impact of this video has been, and will continue to be discussed. The above split view image of one frame in the video and a screen capture of Google Maps corroborates the location.

In the video, the UAS and ComAir are opposed and (obviously) closing in range. The Drone operator performs a half roll going inverted with the commercial airliner, and then a half loop keeping the airliner in the view port, effectively performing a Split S maneuver in an engagement that many would describe as quite unnecessary.
