How does wireless Bluetooth work and what is the maximum speed?

It’s an RF radio and it works like/with 802.11, but its primary objective is low power consumption in a range commensurate within the personal area network, rather than speed,  (depending on the version of the spec the peripheral uses) BTLE is 256kbps is the current popular standard because of battery savings, but I believe the 4.0 spec  was at 2-3Mbps.

However,  it has ways it can be used in conjunction with 802.11 wifi (which is why they come packaged together in a logic chip) to get up 25Mbps and higher, but I’m not sure who uses that because again…it’s not about speed.
